Client 5: Large Suburban Medical Clinic - Five-Compartment Cabinets
Situation: Patient records were delivered to various medical departments every day by the medical records department for patient appointments. The patient records were housed in these various departments on an open shelf that was not lockable. The clinic was very concerned with being compliant with the new laws of patient medical record confidentiality. (HIPAA), which state that all patient information must be kept confidential and protected.

Solution: We proposed the five-compartment cabinets with a lock.

The areas in all of the various departments were very confining. The cabinet we used has the smallest footprint in the industry. It is 36 inches wide by 13 1/2" deep. Each cabinet had three adjustable file supports for each shelf. These allow the client the flexibility to section off each shelf for the amount of patient files they need to store each day. These new cabinets are also keeping patient files confidential.
